Do you think you’re in danger at work? I am sure it is nothing like what the newspaper The Sun investigated after it became known that a young man in Florida worked fighting crocodiles to earn a few dollars; the Briton newspaper defined a list of the most dangerous jobs in the world:

1. Journalist in Syria

There were at least 39 killed and 21 abducted in 2012 due to the violence between the forces of Bashar Al Assad and the rebels, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

2. Coal miner in China

In 2012, 1,384 people died in coal mine accidents in the communist regime, below the figure of 1,973 in 2011. The estimate is that 37 Chinese die per 100 million tonnes of ore mined.

3. Private security in Iraq

These security company personnel have the responsibility of guarding embassies and government buildings and persons from insurgent uprisings, risking their life for a weekly wage. Since 2001, there have been 90,680 insurance claims in the United States.

4. Police in Mexico

More than 60 thousand people dead and many kidnappings in seven years of intense war between drug cartels and Mexican authorities. In fact, last week, heavily armed men ambushed units of the Federal Police in the border state of Michoacán, killing two officers.

5. Loggers

In the United States, where safety measures are some of the best in the world, there are about 104 deaths per 100,000 loggers. It is 21 times the risk of dying than an average person.

6. Commercial fisherman

As recorded by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 127.3 per 100 thousand fishermen were recorded. Falling overboard, shipwrecked vessels and malfunctioning tools contribute to this high mortality rate.

7. Truck driver in Central Africa

The combination of fatigue, long hours and fast turnaround make it one of the most dangerous jobs in Central Africa, where many of the streets are unpaved. Chad, for example, has more than 3,000 registered each year in a population of 11 million deaths.

8. Bomb disposal expert

Recognized in the award-winning film The Hurt Locker, this role has been growing in debate, especially after the official investigation into the death of the heroic Captain Daniel Shepherd after dismantling 13 bombs in 36 hours while under enemy fire.

The experts in the video did not suffer serious damage due to their use of special protective equipment.

9. Bus driver in Guatemala

Guatemalan gangs have killed about 900 bus drivers in the capital city in six years. Furthermore, only 5% of the murders are solved by the police. Gangsters extort money from drivers of over 10 thousand vehicles in the city.

10. Russian commercial pilot

In the past ten years, about 800 people have died in plane crashes nationwide. In 2011, 44 of the 45 people aboard a plane were killed near Yaroslavl, whose pilot had falsified his flight documents, so he applied the brakes incorrectly.

This driver captured the moment when a plane crashed on a highway in Russia. Graphic images.
